Vietnam has proactively and effectively supported Laos' efforts as the country is undertaking the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam has said.

Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung visited the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 28 to extend greetings on the occasion of the 48th National Day of Laos (December 2, 1975-2023).

Vietnam will wholeheartedly support Laos in successfully fulfilling its international responsibilities, including its 2024 ASEAN chairmanship, said President Vo Van Thuong at his November 22 reception for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Saleumxay Kommasith, who is in Vietnam to co-chair the 10th Vietnam-Laos foreign ministerial-level consultation.

A conference to discuss progress made in preparation for Laos’ ASEAN Chairmanship 2024 was convened in Vientiane on June 1.

Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone chaired a meeting in Vientiane on February 9 on preparations for its 2024 ASEAN Chairmanship.
