Dr. Takashi Hosoda, an expert on Asia-Pacific security and a lecturer at theCharles University of the Czech Republic, told the Vietnam News Agency that theselection of Hanoi as the venue of the summit is significant for Vietnam.
This reflects Vietnam’s enhanced position in the international arena, whilehelping spur local tourism, he said.
The event manifests the US’s confidence in Vietnam and is an opportunity toenhance relations between the two countries, the expert said.
Hosoda showed his optimism about outcomes of the meeting which, he said, willcreate momentum to push for the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.
Jan Hornat, an expert on Czech-US relations at the Institute of InternationalRelations under the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the summit wouldbenefit Vietnam in terms of politics, economy and strategy.
It demonstrates thriving relations between Vietnam and the US as this is thesecond trip to Vietnam by President Donald Trump, he said.
