Hanoi (VNA) – The Party, State and people of Vietnamtreasure the stable, healthy and sustainable development of the comprehensivestrategic cooperative partnership with Chinese counterparts, said Deputy PrimeMinister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.
Duringa meeting with Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political ConsultativeConference Yu Zhengsheng on April 17 in Beijing, where he co-chaired the 10th meeting of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperationtogether with Chinese State Councillor Yang Jiechi, Minh said both Vietnam andChina are in an important stage of the reform process and share the commoninterests of maintaining a peaceful and stable environment to serve nationaldevelopment.
Inthe context of rapid and complicated developments in the region and the world,he stressed that the two nations need to maintain high-level exchanges andmeetings, increase political trust, strengthen the traditional friendship andfacilitate mutually-beneficial cooperation between localities.
Accordingto the Deputy PM, well controlling disagreements and peacefully settlingmaritime disputes in line with international law and the United NationsConvention on the Law of the Sea 1982 are conformable with the basic andlong-term interests of the two countries and people and beneficial to themaintenance of peace and stability in the region and the world.
Yu,for his part, spoke highly of the outcomes of the 10th meeting theVietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation and affirmed thatChina attaches importance to promoting friendly neighbourliness andcomprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.
Heemphasised the significance of visits by Chinese and Vietnamese senior leadersin mapping out orientations for the development of ties between the two Partiesand countries.
Theofficial also affirmed that China is ready to enhance cooperative relationswith Vietnam, expand people-to-people exchanges and well control maritimedisagreements, thus contributing to peace, stability and prosperity in theregion.
