
Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has suggestedmore exchange of visits, the sharing of experience, and consultations oninternational issues between the law-making bodies of Vietnam and Hungary whilemeeting Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Gergely Gulyás inHanoi on January 13.
Vietnam always remembers the valuable and efficient assistance provided by theHungarian people and State and follows with keen interest Hungary’ssocio-economic development accomplishments and integration into the EuropeanUnion, she said.
She stressed that the maintenance of delegations at all levels has createdpolitical trust and a strong driving force for the two countries to carry outcooperation across the board, with two-way trade value in 2016 rising 10percent from 2015.
The Vietnamese leader took the occasion to thank Hungary for supportingVietnam’s candidacy for seats at several UN agencies and affirmed Vietnam’sbacking of Hungary’s bid to run for the UN Human Rights Council in the2017-2019 term.
She expressed herhope that Hungary will push for the EU to early sign the EU-Vietnam Free TradeAgreement (EVFTA) and recognize Vietnam’s market economy status whilefacilitating Vietnamese products’ presence in the country.
Ngan said she is delighted at the outcomes of the talks between the HungarianDeputy Speaker and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu,including the organisation of seminars with the aim of helping the twocountries’ legislators to exchange wide-ranging experience and issues relatingto the respective countries’ socio-economic development.
She thanked the State, the Government, and the National Assembly forfacilitating the Vietnamese community’s integration into the local society, andhoped the community will continue working to strengthen the traditionalfriendship and promote trade between the two countries.
She hoped that more Hungarian businesses will come to invest in Vietnam whileasserting that Vietnam will serve as a bridge for Hungary to access the600-million ASEAN market.
Deputy Speaker Gergely Gulyás, who is also Vice President of Fidesz-HungarianCivic Alliance, gave high estimations to the growing socio-political ties ofthe two countries, especially the signing of a framework agreement on a 440million EUR credit as it marked a new development in the bilateral economiccooperation.
Impressed withVietnam’s socio-economic achievements, he affirmed that Hungary always wants tocooperate with Vietnam and considers the Southeast Asian country an importantbridge in ASEAN.
Hungary will continue supporting Vietnam at international forums, he stated,delivering wishes that the two countries’ law-making bodies and their memberswill continue enhancing exchanges and sharing experience.-VNA
