Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly(NA) Standing Committee convened its 19th session in Hanoi onDecember 11 to review outcomes of the fourth sitting of the 14th NAand discuss preparations for the next meeting.
NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said legislators will also look into a reporton results of the supervision of the issuance of resolutions and operation ofcentrally-run municipal and provincial People’s Councils.
The establishment of Ninh Cuong town in Truc Ninh district, the northernprovince of Nam Dinh will also be deliberated during the session, she added.
The committee will mull over the adjustment of the investment plan on housingsupport to people who contributed to the revolution during 2016-2020, and theplans on Government bond capital during 2012-2015 and 2014-2016 periods.
It will also discuss the compensation work of projects to upgrade and expandthe National Highway 1- section from the central province of Thanh Hoa to theMekong Delta province of Can Tho, and a section of Ho Chi Minh road crossingthe Central Highlands.
Apart from reviewing external activities and international cooperation in 2017,the lawmakers are scheduled to approve the committee’s external affairprogramme in 2018 and give opinions on external activities and internationalcooperation of the Ethnic Council, committees, friendship parliamentarians’groups, agencies of the Standing Committee of the NA, the State Audit Office ofVietnam and the NA Office.
The committee is also expected to ratify the proposal to appoint Vietnameseambassadors to a number of countries for 2017-2020. -VNA

Speaking at the session, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the urgency of the amended railway law, noting the country is currently implementing many railway development projects such as the North–South high-speed railway, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi urban rail systems, and the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong line.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son has signed a decision establishing a Vietnamese sub-committee under the Joint Committee on Economic, Trade, and Investment Cooperation between the Vietnamese and Spanish Governments.
