Opera House showcases French architecture in Hanoi
Documents and photos featuring French architecture in colonial era in Hanoi will be on display in an exhibition that opens today at the Hanoi Opera House in the capital city.

Hanoi (VNA) - Documents andphotos featuring French architecture in colonial era in Hanoi will be ondisplay in an exhibition that opens today at the Hanoi Opera House in thecapital city.
The exhibition, FrenchArchitecture in the Heart of Hanoi, is part of the theatre’s historical and architectural tours and art shows. Itis also among activities held to celebrate Hanoi’s Liberation Day which fallson October 10.
Jointly held by the National ArchivesCentre 1, Hanoi Opera House and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism,the event will showcase 70 official documents,photos and drafts of outstanding buildings with French architecture that arebeing preserved in the National Archives Centre 1.
These buildings weredesigned and constructed by French architects at the end of the 19th centuryand early 20th century, including Hanoi Opera House, Louis Finot,Indochina University, Hanoi Post Office, Indochina Finance Office and DoumerBridge (currently Long Bien Bridge).
The exhibited is expected to providevisitors with a more comprehensive view of Hanoi’s architecture during theFrench colonial era and facilitate access to archives that are particularlysignificant to research on the capital’s history and culture.

A photo exhibition featuring the past and present architecture of Hanoi as well as the development of the capital city opened at 45 Trang Tien street on July 13.
“Film photos and Hanoi” exhibition is taking place at the Sword Lake Cultural Centre in Hanoi from August 26 to September 3, showcasing 100 film photos which feature a very simple Hanoi.
The Vietnam Television will broadcast the documentary Mon Hanoi (My Hanoi), directed and filmed by former French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean Noel Poirier, on VTV1 channel at 8:40 pm on October 8.
