Party General Secretary To Lam attended a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on June 30 to announce central and local resolutions and decisions enabling the official launch of the two-tier local government for the new Ho Chi Minh City. The new city now encompasses the former Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong province, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
