Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung launched a nationwide emulation movement for 2016-2020 with the theme of “Solidarity, creativity and emulation for national construction and protection” at the ninth National Patriotic Emulation Congress on December 7.
The Government leader called upon the whole Party, army and people to promote the patriotic tradition and strength of the great national unity and further emulation to successfully fulfil socio-economic development and nation-building and safeguarding tasks.
The nationwide movement will focus on speeding up practical and effective emulation campaigns towards the achievements of socio-economic targets as well as those that help increase the productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy and boost economic restructuring in line with growth model reform.
Attention will be paid to stepping up the building of new-style rural areas as well as the building of cultural life in residential areas, and intensifying the implementation of programmes on education, science-technology, health and social welfare.
The national movement will also focus on studying and following the late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example, while improving the capacity of Party organisations, building a transparent and strong Party, increasing State management, intensifying anti-corruption and wastefulness efforts, and fostering administrative procedure reform.
Emulation campaigns on defence, security, external relations will be intensified in order to maintain independence, national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and gain deeper international integration.
During the 2016-2020 period, role models in national patriotic emulation movements will be honoured and expanded.
