Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception inHanoi on June 20 for former US Secretary of State John Kerry, asking him toconvey a message to President Donald Trump that there is no confrontation abouttrade between Vietnam and the US.
Lauding Kerry’s efforts to promote Vietnam-the US relations, PrimeMinister Phuc spoke highly of the Fulbright University Vietnam project’simportant role of training high-quality human resources for the country,stating that the Vietnamese Government is interested in the project andsupports it.
He noted that cooperation contracts signed between the two countries during hisofficial visit to the American country last month are encouraging achievementsin the bilateral collaboration ties.
Phuc expressed his hope that the US will further supports for Vietnam torespond to climate change as the phenomenon has severely impacted the country,especially the southern region.
For his part, Kerry highlighted that the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s visit tothe US will make substantial contributions to strengthening sustainablerelations between the two nations.
He thanked the Prime Minister for endorsing the Fulbright project, saying thatit will play an important role in Vietnam’s socio-economic development. Hewished that Fulbright University will help speed up cooperative programmesbetween the two sides.
Vietnam could be an example for other countries in terms of using renewable energy,Kerry said, underlining that he supports the country in calling for financialsupport from international organisations for the sector.
Welcoming Kerry’s opinion on the matter, Prime Minister Phuc expected that withhis prestige, Kerry will do more for the bilateral ties to reap more practicaloutcomes.-VNA

Vietnam’s participation at the meeting underscores the country’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification, and proactive international integration in a broad, deep, and effective manner. It also conveys Vietnam’s ambition and determination to enter a new era - the era of the nation’s rise.
The amended law will take effect on July 1, 2025, except for provisions on civil servant evaluation in Section 3, Chapter IV, which will be implemented from January 1, 2026.
