Students asked to respect intellectual property rights in scientific research

Hanoi (VNA) –A seminar highlighting respect for intellectual property rights and gender equality during scientific research among students was held in both face-to-faceand online forms on April 18.
The event is part of activities to respond to the World Creativity and InnovationDay (April 21), the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) and the World Intellectual Property Day.
In his opening speech,Dr. Dinh Huu Phi, Director of the National Office ofIntellectual Property of Vietnam highlighted the important role of IP rights in socio-economic development in general and science-technology development in particular, particular when Vietnam is striving towards a knowledge-based economy.
Lawyer Le Xuan Loc, directorin charge of intellectual property at T&G Law Firm, said that if students fail to understand and respect IP rights, they would not be able to be come innovators or talented entrepreneurs.
According to Dr. Duong Kim Anh, vice director of the Vietnam Women Academy, young people need topay attention to promoting reading culture of individuals, families, schoolsand communities.
She also emphasisedthe necessity to develop reading cul🧸ture, enhance investment in libraries, andinclude reading lessons and discussions on books into the education programme atall levels./.
An online campaign will be held to mark World Intellectual Property Day 2021 (April 26) themed “Intellectual property and small businesses: Taking big ideas to market”.
Activities within the framework of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2022 will take place from March 15 to April 30 under a plan which has been released by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Vietnam book and reading culture festival 2022 officially kicked off on April 15 at the National Library of Vietnam in Hanoi to celebrate the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) and the World Book and Copyright Day (April 23).

According to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC), this year’s campaign provided long-term aid for 3,785 individuals and organisations. Support included houses, clean water systems, school meal facilities, books, and livelihood assistance, with a total value of more than 118 billion VND.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
