The Swiss Party of Labour cooperated with the Vietnamese Embassy to solemnly hold an event to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh’s 50th death anniversary at its headquarters in Geneva on September 14.

Geneva (VNA) – The Swiss Party of Labour cooperated with the VietnameseEmbassy to solemnly hold an event to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh’s 50th death anniversary atits headquarters in Geneva on September 14.
In her remarksat the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Le Linh Lan said Vietnam commemorated the50th death anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh and the 50th year ofimplementation of his testament.
The latepresident’s testament has been implemented by the Vietnamese Party, Governmentand people, she said, particularly highlighting his will for Vietnam having“more friends and fewer enemies,” and “wishing to be afriend and a trustworthy partnerof all nations”.
Vietnam iscurrently a member of various multilateral organisations, such as the UnitedNations (UN), the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the Asia-Pacific EconomicCooperation (APEC), ASEAN among others. Vietnam has recently been elected tothe UN Security Council for the second time with 192 out of 193 votes, shesaid.
The SwissParty of Labour hosting this event shows its deep respect for President Ho ChiMinh as well as Vietnam and Vietnamese people, Chairman Alexander Eniline told theVietnam News Agency.
Several bookson President Ho Chi Minh were exhibited while a documentary portraying the latepresident was also screened at the ceremony./.
A range of artworks by 39 painters and sculptors featuring President Ho Chi Minh by prominent Vietnamese artists are on display at an exhibition that opened in Hanoi on August 30.
General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong on September 1 offered incense in memory of President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 in the Ho Chi Minh relic site, where the President passed away on September 2, 1969.
As many as 50,066 people, including 1,462 foreigners, paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi during the National Day holiday which lasts from August 31 to September 2.

In 2019, the Vietnamese association in PEI was established as a non-governmental organisation to support integration and development within the community. It has since organised a range of activities to maintain cultural identity, foster community cohesion, and strengthen ties with the homeland, while also contributing to the development of the host society.
Vietnam’s participation at the meeting underscores the country’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification, and proactive international integration in a broad, deep, and effective manner. It also conveys Vietnam’s ambition and determination to enter a new era - the era of the nation’s rise.
The amended law will take effect on July 1, 2025, except for provisions on civil servant evaluation in Section 3, Chapter IV, which will be implemented from January 1, 2026.
