Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand attracted 279 foreign film productions during the first half of 2025, generating 2.866 billion THB in direct revenue from international crews and services.

Full-year earnings are expected to reach 10 billion THB, surpassing the original 7.5 billion THB target set by the Department of Tourism. The figures, based on official film permits issued between January and June, represent actual spending across various sectors, including production services, hospitality, transportation, and tourism-related businesses.

According to Deputy Government Spokesperson Sasikarn Wathanachan, the top four countries sending film crews to Thailand were India, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and China.

The most in-demand filming locations included Bangkok, Pathum Thani, and Chonburi, where infrastructure, scenery, and logistical convenience support a wide range of productions. These areas have seen a rise in employment and revenue as a result of on-location shooting and associated activities.

Beyond economic impact, international productions have helped promote Thailand’s image abroad. Scenes shot across the country often inspire film-related travel, with visitors seeking out locations featured in high-profile projects, contributing to both tourism and cultural recognition.

Expectations for the remainder of the year remꦿain high, as major productions such as Jurassic World and The White Lotus have already completed filming in the country. The government’s cash rebate program, offering up to 30% back to foreign productions, has played a crucial role in attracting big-budget titles and encouraging repeat investment./.
