Top leader extends congratulations to newly-elected general secretary of Lao Party
Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong has sent a basket of flowers and a congratulatory message to newly-elected General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee Thongloun Sisoulith.

Hanoi (VNA)- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and State President Nguyen Phu Trong has sent a basket of flowersand a congratulatory message to newly-elected General Secretary of the Lao People’sRevolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee Thongloun Sisoulith.
In his message, the Vietnamese leader saidthe election of comrade Thongloun Sisoulith shows thetrust the Lao Party and people have in him and the recognition of his greatcontributions to the Lao revolution.
“I believe that under the leadership ofthe LPRP and the General Secretary, the fraternal Lao people will continue to grasp newand greater successes in the cause of reform and successfully implement the Resolution of the LPRP’s 11th National Congress, thus building a nation ofpeace, independence, democracy, unification, and prosperity towards the goal ofsocialism,” he wrote.
He underlined that the Party, State andpeople of Vietnam will work hard to join hands with the Party, State and peopleof Laos to maintain and reinforce the great friendship, special solidarity, andcomprehensive cooperation between the two countries, making bilateral tiesdeeper and more practical and effective in all areas, benefiting the people of both countriesand for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and theworld.
The Vietnamese leader expressed his hope that the great Vietnam-Laos friendship, specialsolidarity, and comprehensive cooperation will be sustainable forever.
Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith waselected as the new General Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee during thefirst meeting of the committee on January 15.
On this occasion, Prime Minister NguyenXuan Phuc also cabled a message to comrade Thongloun Sisoulith to congratulate him on hiselection.
Chairwoman of theNational Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan extended her congratulations to Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly PanyYathotu on being re-elected to the LPRP’s Politburo.
Standing member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong also congratulated comrade Bunthong Chitmanion being elected as Standing member of the 11th LPRP Central Committee’sSecretariat.
