Vesak Day 2023: VFF leader visits Buddhist establishments

HCM City (VNA) – ViceChairwoman and Secretary-General of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) CentralCommittee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha visited and congratulated leaders of several Buddhistestablishments in Ho Chi Minh City on May 26, on the occasion of Vesak Day, the2567th birth anniversary of the Buddha.
Visiting the Office 2 of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Central Committee inDistrict 3, Ha hailed the VBS for always being an active member of the VFF,making significant and effective contributions to patriotic movements andcampaigns launched by the VFF, building new-style rural areas, protecting the environment, coping with climate change, and joining social welfare and charitableendeavors, with noteworthy accomplishments.
Shebelieved that Buddhist monks, nuns and followers will continue upholding the traditionof the VBS, following policies and guidelines of the Party and State, andbuilding a great national unity.
During her visit to the Central Executive Committee of TinhDo Cu Si Phat Hoi Viet Nam (Vietnam Pure Land Buddhist Home-Practice Association), Ha assured that the Party, State andVFF will always create favourable conditions for religions, including TinhDo Cu Si, to carry out their activities in accordance withtheir principles, contributing to upholding the power of great national unity fora prosperous, strong, democratic, just and civilised country.
Nguyen Ngoc Anh, deputy head of🌸 the Standing Committee ofthe Central Executive Council of the association, affirmedthat with the support of the Party, State and VFF, its dignitaries and members will continue abiding by the Party policies and State laws, adhere to religious regulations and contribute to national development./.
A delegation of representatives from the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on May 12 visited and offered greetings to several local Buddhist establishments ahead of Lord Buddha’s 2565th birthday.
A village in Duc Trong district, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, Phu An is home to 80 Buddhist establishments, the highest density in Vietnam.
The UN Day of Vesak was celebrated at Tran Quoc Pagoda in Hanoi on May 25, or the seventh day of the fourth lunar month, with the joint effort of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), the Hanoi chapter of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association, and the Indian Embassy.
State President Vo Van Thuong offered greetings to Buddhist dignitaries and followers on the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha, while visiting Hue Nghiem and Minh Dao pagodas in Ho Chi Minh City on May 26.
Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
