Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam won a bronze medal after beating Myanmar 3-0 to win the bronze medal at the AFF Women’s Championships at Jaka Baring Stadium inIndonesia on July 13.

In the 10th minute, midfielder Nguyen ThiTuyet Dung scored the opener for Vietnam, and allowed the team to get on thefront foot, but Pham Hoang Quynh, captain Huynh Nhu and Nguyen Thi Lieu were allunable to beat Myanmar goalie Zar Zar Myint.

After the break, Vietnamese coach Mai Duc Chungmade some changes and rookie Nguyen Thi Van doubled the score for Vietnam inthe 68th minute.

Just a few minutes later, taking fulladvantage of a defensive error, striker Pham Hai Yen added a third, and despitetheir efforts, Myanmar were unable to get on the scoresheet.

The Vietnamese footballers are due to returnhome on July 14 to prepare for the Asian Games to be held in Indonesia inAugust.-VNA

Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernment♋al Committee
