Vietnamese PM to attend expanded BRICS summit in Brazil

Hanoi, July 3 (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse will lead a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam to attend the expanded BRICS summit and engage in bilateral activities in Brazil from July 4 – 8.
The trip will be made at the invitation of Brazilian President Lula da Silva, according to an annou𝄹ncement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs./.
Prof. Dr. Georgy Toloraia, Executive Director of the National Committee for BRICS Research and Director of the Centre for Russian Strategy in Asia at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, expressed his confidence that Vietnam will become a substantial and influential partner of BRICS.
The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence supports deeper cooperation between the two militaries, Minister Gen. Phan Van Giang affirmed, expressing his hope that they will further strengthen effective collaboration, thus contributing to each country's national defence and the Vietnam – Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the time ahead.
PM Pham Minh Chinh will have bilateral meetings with leaders of the participating countries and organisations, thereby affirming Vietnam's role, wish, and responsible contributions to this multilateral mechanism while further deepening Vietnam’s cooperation with BRICS members and international organisations.
