The north central province of Thanh Hoa has intensified inspections at sea and fishing ports while working with owners of vessels that violated regulations on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing as part of its efforts to clamp down on the illicit fishing.
As many as 216 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, killing 121 people and injuring 138 others during the Lunar New Year holiday from January 29 to February 6, reported the Traffic Police Department.
In the first three days of the 5-day holiday which lasts from April 27 – May 1, the whole country saw 76 traffic accidents which killed 58 people and injured 52 others, according to the National Traffic Safety Commission.
The number of deaths and injuries caused by traffic accidents across the country reduced during the National Day holidays from the same period last year, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC).
The number of traffic accidents, deaths and injuries on National Highway 1A from December 28, 2017 to February 28, 2018 declined in comparison to the same period last year, said the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security.
Nearly 2,600 cases of violation had been handled as of March 15 by the customs sector, with the total goods value of 66 billion VND (2.9 million USD), according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
As many as 408 traffic accidents occurred nationwide during the nine-day Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday (February 6-14), claiming 300 lives and injuring 380 others.
